HOW TO BREED FRENCH BULLDOGS?

There is a much longer answer than one paragragh, please call and I'd love to speak more on the nuance of the topic. Essentially you have to determine what is important to you; for example, structure, color, health,  temperment, or exotic features. Then purchase a female with full AKC rights. She will need DNA color test, regular Vet checks, and high quality food. Then when she is in heat after 1 year old you will need to use a stud to create the puppies you are interested in. Best to research your Stud options months in advance.

HOW DOES DNA AFFECT PRICE?

Another topic with much more detail and nuance than one paragraph can provide, but I will do my best. First and foremost, in my opinion, you should start with structure and health. Structure is visual; does the dog look proportional? Is it too skinny or too wide? Definitely watch out for the skinny ones. Are the legs too short, too long, or too bowlegged? Is the nose flat, too long, or somewhere between? While a flat nose looks good, somewhere in between is generally best for breathing. Are the eyes looking straight ahead or outward? Is the tail short and cropped, too long, or even curly? In general, you know what a French Bulldog should look like, so if something just doesn't look right or feels off, the structure is being affected negatively (yes, some breeders do this on purpose, such as micro, exotic, etc., which all come with their own possible issues). A good balance is important. Health can be tested, but some breeders don't want to pay for it. All of our puppies are 4-panel clear of genetic defects. Lastly, for better or worse, color coat DNA and exotic traits such as velvet (loose, wrinkly skin), big rope (floppy skin over the nose), and fluffy are the greatest reasons prices fluctuate so much because of how they look, but more importantly, what they can produce. The French Bulldog breeding industry is booming. I'm going to add a deeper dive to the website later on, but essentially, standard coats such as Brindle, Fawn, and Sable ($2k - $4k) will cost less than Blue, Brown, and Merle ($3k - $7k), which cost less than Fluffy, New Shade, Velvet, and Big Rope ($7k - $30k). The combination of colors creates even more price fluctuation. Be careful with the nicknames given to the combinations; even breeders can't agree on some. It's best to get the actual letters of the DNA if you're looking to breed. Otherwise, if purchasing as a pet only, which usually has a discounted price, then it's all about the look you want and the health.
